In a posting to
comp.sys.acorn.announce today, details about the RISC OS portal
riscos.net were finally revealed. The portal is being backed by Zenta and Oregan (so will this be the default homepage in future releases of Oregano?), and as well as the standard portal features there are also plans for a comprehensive links database, free ads, free @riscos.net email addresses and web-based usenet access.
Despite recent discussions in the newsgroups that there are "too many" RISC OS websites already, more sites means more of a choice, and healthy competition can only be good for everyone. It will be interesting to see how this site will compare to the already well established Drobe launch pad portal.
